Clothed much

I love blogs where people post what they wear everyday. It makes me want to be better at treating everyday as an event to get ready for, because truly I am grateful for everyday on this earth. Though sometimes a tee and jeans is also a sign of being grateful for the natural fibers of cotton and the ability to get dirty.

It helps that Elaine of Clothed Much is LDS, and in her words "married and poor." I love her finds and the way she puts things together. She wears dressy and casual. I like her combos.

It is fashion inspiration for me. Where do you find your inspiration?

So "much" fun

If unnecessary quotation marks drive you crazy, this blog will make you want to be committed to an institution.

I live in paradise

Love this early-Hollywood map that breaks down California for shooting locations.  Funny that San Diego could double for Spain - why not Mexico? Or perhaps that goes without saying.

Sex and the City was filmed in Morocco because the United Arab Emirates wouldn't let them shoot there. Too racy. If the movie inspires cougar-esque trips to Abu Dhabi, people might not get what they thought they were getting. I'd rather go to Morocco anyway, I think.

By the way, I can't stop singing Katy Perry's California Girls song. Really sad.

Nice, printable invites

Wish I'd know about Download and Print before I ordered the hubs' law school announcements.

Definitely will be remembering it for the next party. Even if it is just to create a few for a dinner party. There is just something fun about printing off an invite, and when it is free, well, it is much easier to find opportunities! I love how nice-looking, non-cheesy they are.

I am thrilled at how husband's law school announcment turned out though. Perfectly conveys how we feel - not stuffy, but happy.

It was designed by Wenda of Tucci Paper Company. She was great to work with and very affordable. I printed off the invites on tan, textured paper. So they look better than this, but you get the idea.

Facial hair

Husband is welcome to have whatever kind of hair on his face he wants.

He just knows that kissing ends after day three of no shaving.

That usually gets the razor out.

Usually.

Love this graphic on the "trustworthiness" of beards.

Homescreen

First and 20 spotlights what people put on their iPhone homescreen. It is fun to sift through and see people's reasonings for putting what where. The site shows how much we use our phones for things besides calling. Some people don't have their phone icon as a mainstay icon. I don't dare move those.

This is mine. All about convenience and quickness. The other screens are full of randomness, music screens, blogs and whatnot, but this is "home."

I'm in love with having husband and I's calendar linked together through Google. Suddenly I can commit to something, and put it on the calendar and husband sees it! We don't even need to talk!

I kid, I kid, but only sort of.

That random text app is because husband and I also don't text each other through the phone because we don't want to pay an extra $60 for unlimited texting. Silly. And the "one unread message" is just a note that says "I love you" that I don't want to delete.

PDF

Ten points to anyone who knows what PDF stands for. I'm sure it is something simple. But acronyms have a way of becoming verbiage.

They can also be very frustrating. Here's two links that are fabulous for ending that frustration.

FillAnyPDF lets you electronically write on any PDF document.

PDFMyURL lets you turn any Web site into a PDF. Great for recipes or news articles that you think are going t be taken down (I'm thinking portfolio here.)

Both links from Lifehacker, love that site. Fabulous for useful information.

Originality

There is an ongoing debate on creativity -- are there any new ideas or do all ideas just build on past ones?

While this would explain the reoccurrence of lime green being "the color for summer" about every four years, I tend to stick with the "new ideas" camp.

This totally explains why I think that. And it kept me fascinated for quite some time.

A series of YouTube clips that can be played all at once or at different times, and they always sound like a song.

Thanks Sarah.

Bearded

Do you like facial hair? I don't. If husband goes a few days without shaving, I'm out.

But these photos from the World Beard and Mustache Championships are pretty crazy.

And, the United States is the ‘world’s new facial hair super power, after taking 12 world championship titles out of 18 categories plus overall at the World Beard and Moustache Championships in Anchorage, Alaska in 2009′

Go USA.

A New Year List of Links

The best part about being married? That New Years Kiss.

OK, that's really not the best part, but it is one of those perks.

Here are some links around the 'net that are fun for starting 2010 off right. A few brought smiles, a few brought smirks and a few for the to do list, because what would a new year be without a list?

Steven Colbert on why he can't poke fun at Glenn Beck as a gal who doesn't so much care for Beck, I thought this was awesome.

8 Things Every Geek Needs to Do in the New Year. Really something almost anyone who is online at all should do, i.e. change up passwords, etc.

For 20-somethings: 83 Ways to be Smarter with Your Money While You're Still Young. I blogged awhile back about how husband and I have been able to eliminate $350 from our monthly bills just by giving things another look. These are good tips. We were going to put all the extra money into our Paris fund but maybe we could be smarter with it.

Eva Longoria and her husband are hosting a video contest. This is the video they made of redoing "Summer Nights" from Grease.

How to start freelancing without quitting your job. After all, that's what the hours after work are for, right? To find your passion?

A behind the scenes video of Nine, which I am dying to see.

Puppy spots

Now, I'm not one to take my dog out in public everywhere. We did it more when she was a puppy and we didn't trust her. Now I trust her to stay at home.

But there are sometimes when we're looking for a "family night" or looking to get our dog some exercise and I was happy to see Fido Factor. It lists dog-friendly places. The San Diego listings are slim but growing. Most are restaurants with dog friendly patios, which is great by me.

I do hesitate to take our puppy out because I understand what it is like for a family with a guide dog too. It isn't a novelty to eat with a dog it is life, and it can be stressful if other distractions enter the scene. Distractions very much so being another puppy.

Homemade

I like the idea behind P.S. I made this and the tutorials. I don't necessarily want to break out the crafting but I do wish I broke out the sewing machine more. I can sew, I just don't. And I worry that if I let that skill go dormant it will disappear.

I am hoping to make more holiday gifts this year -- coworkers and siblings especially.

Note: Massage giveaway extended (due to spreadsheet disappearance). My loss is your gain. Enter until Nov. 30

Never ever ever

Make a tape

Film yourself

Let that get into the wrong hands

Again, just don't do it to begin with

Unless your name is Paris or Kardashian and you want it to follow you for the rest of your life, keep the camera on the kids. I have never watched a sex tape, but I'd almost guarantee that kids are cuter than the act of making them.

Links: Date night

Looking for the best little black dress? Of course. Sensibly Styled has a great breakdown of good dresses in stores now. Tempting.

Loving the tips to a good marriage on A Cup of Joe. This is my fave:
Life's grind sometimes whittles away the parts of us that are carefree, inspired, focused or fun. One of the best things you can do for your spouse is to defend the parts of them that you married them for. And that doesn't mean saying "You used to be so..." It means reminding them that they ARE those things; they're not gone, even on their most beaten down days.
Have you ever done Groupon? It just came to San Diego. I'm tempted.

Tee hee, La Jeune Marie has tips on lingerie wearing. Yes.

Mainland thoughts

I am a feminist. Are you? Love these graphics. Its a personal thing.

Have your heard about the rape incident at the Marriott? I thought about writing about it, but this says it so much better (not G rated). I'll be avoiding their hotel -- and we just stayed at one a few weeks ago. I don't know if Marriott noticed, but they have plenty of competitors. To all who believe that a victim ever asks for rape, she doesn't. Ever.

Nie Nie is inspiring to me. As is the blogosphere. The accident was a year ago.

I watched two movies on the plane. Duplicity and the Hannah Montana Movie. Sorry to report that Miley was better than Julia Roberts. Only slightly but still. Way sorry.

Is anyone wishing that Alexis Bledel's new movie Post Grad was a Gilmore Girls movie about her post graduate life?

My biggest pet peeve? Mentioning a decision I've made -- like cutting my hair -- or being less than conservative -- and someone saying "so what does your husband think? I get it, its natural, whatever, but I love this video of Secratary of State Clinton.

UPDATE: Marriott withdrew the claim that the victim was partially at fault. But still, an incident like this should never happen.

Monday Funday

Monday might not be the funnest thing in the world - but these games courtesy of Starbucks are. Great marketing - the site is set up like an Web site one would view at work - and there are little ads for their super-caffienated product everywhere. Won't buy the drink, but I made it to the senior level on Meeting Planner.

Download the Coldplay album for free. (thanks Elise)

The Nytpicker is one of my new faves. Its a blog about what's going on at the New York Times behind the scenes.

I'm seriously using Alice. I got our groceries delievered once and it was a pain in the neck - they arrived early, we weren't home, then we had to wait around all day. But this seems different. This is Alice.

Love this list: the 20 Most Worthless Pieces of Junk. First up is Happy Meal Toys, last is a rice cooker, is that true? Not junk - my hair straightner. But it died last week, and now I'm all sorts of wondering how I'm going to come up with $100 for a new one. Maybe no Bettina Bag. Sad.

Pin it: Good things

My new favorite site - Sensibly Styled is all about finding modest clothes from department stores and posting them. I've done that mall treasure hunt so many times, its nice to know someone is doing it for me.

Make photos old-looking using this site (click on English in the upper corner, will make things a lot easier)

Mailing labels that are DIY and look nothing like the freebies you get from the credit card company

Sarah Palin is old news. Dancing With the Stars/Bachelor reject Melissa Rycroft is engaged.

A YouTube channel that is checkout worthy. Strawberry Koi Vintage is all about vintage hairstyles. I love that.

Loved this post on Consumerist about vintage ads. Seriously.

Links: Celebs and News edition

As if celebs haven't been in the news enough lately -- I promise all of these links are uplifting.

Wahoo! Zupas -- one of my fave restaurants in Utah -- has a food blog.

Best news ever: Spiedi has been banned from the E! Network, after they polled their readers and an overwhelming amount said no more! Maybe now my husband will watch with me. I hope the Soup still makes fun of them though.

What would you ask the president? ABC News is taking your submissions (via Thinking Out Loud)

Behind the scene photos of Tyra Banks

Follow Pizza Hut on Twitter for a freebie coupon on July 4

And, now Britney Spears and MJ singing together. Before the pedophilia, before Britney went crazy. My Beehives don't understand why we need to cheer for Brit. But this is why.

Confession: I so want to go to her concerts in Los Angeles or Las Vegas when she comes back to North America in September. Anyone with me?

Clicking

I want a funky and chic address stamp like these.

Do you complain when you go to a restaurant and get bad service? (I do) San Diego Foodstuff asks.

My mom posted "25 Random Things About RP and Me" - about her eye disease. I love that my mom blogs because I get to see into her mind. I want to look at life just like her.

I'm loving 21 Ideas for Organizing Your Home Office because so many of the ideas work for a home "office" that is just a desk. Thank you New York City for making square footage so expensive. (via Decor8)

Loving that Smitten Kitchen posted a recipe for Cheese Straws. We went to a wedding a few weeks ago and it was all I could do to not grab all of them off the appetizer trays as they went around. So yum.

My fave thing I've done this week though? Is taking the "What Religion are you?" quiz at SelectSmart. It was tense there, but it looks like I'm in the right religion. Or my religion shaped my beliefs. Whatever. It always happy-fies me to know how similar we all are -- we really aren't different in so many ways. (via thatwife)

Click- Click -alicious

Can you tell I'm a fan of Fergie? And that my ipod has been broken for two years? I still sing G-L-A-M-O-R-O-U-S.

First and foremost -- tightsarenotpants.com -- love it! Remember my leggins woes? I want to print their press kit!

Because of Vintage Printables, hubs and I just might be able to get art that we can both agree on for our bedroom. After a year. And the first year was a giant poster-size portrait of yours truly, which is totally acceptable for the first year of marriage.

Loving the site How to Nail an Interview. Not that I'm starting the job hunting process, but grad school interviews are coming up. And it might help others I know. Definitely helpful tips.

My pal from high school just redid her new apartment. Paint, furniture retouching, everything. Its amazing -- and there are lots of DIY how tos from her mom's blog that I want to try!

I wish I was seeing my dad on Fathers Day. But-- just for writing why I love him, I can get a free appetizer at Carrabbas.

Loving Texts from Last Night and be grateful that I'm usually safely tucked in next to my husband at night -- not on a drunken escapade. But, I'll laugh at other people's drunken escapades.

Great handmade gift ideas answered in a plea on Feminist Mormon Housewives.

I think I'm going to start putting watermarks on my pictures after reading a post about a woman's family picture that ended up on a sign in the Czech Republic! If I could figure out how to do it.

A really fun shoe tutorial on how to add to shoes to make them flashy.

Happy to be part of
