Resolving to boost my year

Happy happy 2009!!

So, those resolutions things. As I sat down to make them, I realized I'm at a point in my life where I'm preparing...for something. Babies, grad school, maybe a move across state lines? It's all in the future, but not this year. I feel like I should prepare and continue to educate myself -- make 2009 a booster of a year so to say.

My resolutions last year were to eat healthier and exercise. Boring. And I didn't really do it. I might be weighing in a little bit less, but that is due to better health insurance and a more stressful life.

Boost my wifery
1. Go on a date once a week. Whether it's a walk, whether its ice cream or dinner. Whatev. We need to hang more.
2. Cook food for my husband...ummm, I've stopped doing this in the past month. I need to jump back on the wagon.
3. Umm, have more sex. Shh. But yeah.

Boost my work
1. Find ways to get the word out about what we're doing, develop press contacts and relationships with people in the community. I've started twittering and I've used pitchengine.com.
2. Be the best employee I can be - work hard always.
3. Improve my relationships with my coworkers.

Boost communications
1. I will call a contact in my cell phone every week that I don't call regularly. I tried this a few months ago and it was fun to surprise people. Why don't we call our friends anymore?
2. I will hand write a note once a week. Of thanks, of appreciation, of hello. Nothing makes me happier than reaching into that mailbox and finding something. I want to make other people happy.
3. Comment on all of the blogs I read - be it finance or career. I get lazy with this -- I don't mean to, but I do. I am so grateful to the people who read my blog, and I know how warm and fuzzy comments make me, so I feel its a good way to return the favor.

Boost health
1. I will wear my hand braces every night.
2. I will take my puppy for walks.
3. I will eat more vegetables and less meat. I will cook with less oil.

Boost my spirituality
1. I will arrive on time to church and activities (oh this is a difficult one for me)
2. I will pray on my knees. Not in bed with the covers on.
3. I will go to the temple -- and I will work to overcome the challenges I've had with going to the temple.

Will it all happen? I'm identifying my weaknesses and moving forward. It feels good. I like these tips for following through.

i think these goals are achievable. I would like to do some of these myself. so we can do them on the buddy system.

Umm, well. I will definitely approve of number three in the wifery department.

The date a week is a very good idea.

It can be easy to take each other for granted.

A bit of special time is very important.

Great resolutions!
I could use all of yours in the spirituality department (among others). It doesn't matter if church is a 15 minute drive or across the street- why is it so hard to get there on time?!

The trick is to set S.M.A.R.T goals that you are actually motivated to do... or so we talked about in YW. I think you're probably off to a great start already.

i like the communication ones. especially #1 & 2. in this day of computers, email, texts, it is nice to actually talk or get a hand written note.
